For the 20th anniversary of the WPC Awards, PYTCH was proud to deliver full production for the sixth consecutive year. With a milestone event at its core, the brief called for a bold, immersive visual experience that would elevate the brand and energise the audience from the very first moment.

WPC 2024: A Visual Celebration for the 20th Anniversary Awards

Pre-Event Preperation

The concept for WPC 2024 centred around four concentric rings used as the core brand ident and woven into every element of the show. Our set team fabricated a giant steel ring structure, wrapped in frosted acrylic and PixNet LED tape, allowing for pixel-level control and integration with the opening video sequence.

Stage and Set Design
We built a three-tier circular stage with a central ring feature, designed to mirror the brand ident. The PixNet LED tape allowed us to extend visual effects from the video content into the physical space, creating a sense of depth and movement.

Table Centrepieces
Using Astera AX3 Lightdrop fixtures, we designed and 3D-printed custom shells to house the lights. These were paired with CNC-cut acrylic rings to create branded, illuminated table centres that added visual cohesion across the room.

Content Mapping and Programming
We used MadMapper to pixel-map the PixNet LED strips, allowing us to play video content across the lighting grid. This enabled synchronised playback between the video sting and the lighting effects, enhancing the immersive experience.

On-Site Execution

With the visual assets prepared, our team moved into full show mode. The lighting desk was programmed using Avolites Tiger Touch II, with the opening sting video imported and timecoded to trigger lighting cues. This was pre-visualised in Capture to ensure accuracy and impact.

Lighting Design
Our Senior Lighting Designer programmed colour shifts, motion, and fixture effects to match the video sequence. The result was a tightly choreographed light show that elevated the opening moment and set the tone for the evening.

System Integration
To synchronise playback across multiple systems, we used QLab to send timecode cues to the lighting desk, video servers, and PixNet playback laptop. This ensured all elements from LED walls to table centres, responded in perfect sync.

Technical Coordination
The show was operated across multiple control positions, with Barco E2 handling screen outputs, MadMapper driving the PixNet visuals, and QLab acting as the master trigger. Our team coordinated across departments to ensure flawless execution.

Post-Event Wrap-Up

The WPC 2024 Awards were a resounding success, with the opening sequence receiving praise from attendees and organisers alike. The integration of brand, content, and technology created a standout moment that reflected the significance of the 20th anniversary.
