SQLBits is the world’s leading Data Platform conference, hosting over 300 sessions across five days. In 2024, the event took over Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre with 15 conference rooms, a vast exhibition hall, and multiple breakout spaces. PYTCH was tasked with delivering full event production for the conference, exhibition, and after-party.

SQLBits 2024: Full-Scale Production for a Global Data Platform Conference

Pre-Event Preperation

Planning for SQLBits began months in advance. Our team worked closely with organisers to design floorplans, technical layouts, and creative elements that reflected the event’s aviation theme.

Event Design and Layout
We developed detailed floorplans to accommodate 15 conference rooms, an exhibition hall, and an after-party space. Each zone was mapped for AV requirements, delegate flow, and branding opportunities.

Custom Digital Signage
To reinforce the aviation theme, we created bespoke digital signage and a web-based departure board displaying live event timings. This added a unique, interactive element to the delegate experience.

Technical Planning
Our team scoped power, rigging, and connectivity requirements across the venue. Equipment was prepped and staged for efficient deployment, including 11 projectors for the centrepiece projection wall.

On-Site Execution

The scale of SQLBits required precision and coordination. Over five fully-loaded arctic trucks delivered AV equipment, scenic elements, and interactive installations.

Main Exhibition Feature
A 70-metre edge-blended projection wall became the focal point of the exhibition hall. Using 11 projectors, we streamed live feeds from every conference room, supported by an audio streaming system that allowed delegates to tune into any session from the exhibition floor.

Conference Room Delivery
Each of the 15 rooms was equipped with tailored AV setups, including projection, sound reinforcement, and lighting. Our technicians managed transitions and supported speakers throughout the event.

Interactive Experiences
To enhance engagement, we installed two full flight simulators in the exhibition hall, creating a memorable experience that tied into the aviation theme.

Post-Event Wrap-Up

SQLBits 2024 was the most successful edition to date, delivering over 300 sessions and five days of high-energy content. Feedback from organisers and delegates highlighted the seamless integration of technology and creative design.
