We were approached by the Professional Recovery and Tow Show to create an informal and fun space for their 2014 Gala Dinner at the Telford International Centre.
We met with our client several months before the event to discuss ideas in the venue. They required lighting, sound, staging, backdrop, and a dancefloor to round off the day’s events with a spectacular evening of entertainment.
It was decided to employ a ground support 8x8m truss box at 4m height in the centre of the room to rig all lighting, promotional banners and some delay speakers. This central space would include a dancefloor and become a nightclub style area when the DJ began his set, thanks to the ten Phantom 250s, four LED floods, two mirror balls, and twelve compact pars.
We specified a complete L-Acoustics PA system which was designed in advance to cover every area of the room, using five LA8 amplifiers, four 8XTs, ten 12XTs, six ARCS, and four SB18s, all controlled by our LS9-32 desk. Other unique features included branded illuminated LED Poseur tables around the bar area, illuminated LED ice buckets as table centres, and a branded lectern.
A 22x22ft black and white striped starlit dancefloor was installed underneath the truss structure, with a 26x6ft walkway leading to the stage. This created a natural route for the evening’s performers and presenters to use all of the floor space available and create a more personal experience for the guests. The walkway and dancefloor were complemented by the 6m high starcloth backdrop behind the stage, adorned by two full-height promotional banners.
The entire event ran smoothly, and our experienced sound and lighting engineers were praised for the skills they showed during throughout the evening.
“Just a brief message to thank you both and the entire team that worked on the Tow Show Gala Dinner for us last week in Telford.
The event was a fantastic success.
We’ve had so many positive comments and feedback from guests on the night, all saying it was the best event they’ve attended.
Overall success was in no small part either due to the production that you guys were responsible for. Visually the room looked really superb, and the technical end of the audio and lighting was equal to this as well.
The Premier Events crew on the day were a pleasure to work with, as you have both been since our initial meeting at the International Centre.
We will be in touch again in due course for the 2015 event as we wouldn’t want to use anyone other than yourselves now for the production on this event”.
