Brief
We were contacted by Lumbers Jewellers in Leicester and invited to meet them to discuss an upcoming event for OMEGA that they were planning. Having worked with the team at Lumbers previously for a charity event, they knew that they would be in safe hands.
The event was to mark the 60th anniversary of the OMEGA Speedmaster, the watch that was the first to be worn on the moon by Buzz Alrdrin back in 1969.
Design & Implementation
The team at Lumbers had a vision for the evening which we were informed of at the site inspection. We love a challenge here at Premier and so this proved to be a fantastic event to be a part of. For this ‘space themed’ event, the plan was to transform the store to reflect the theme for the evening.
To formally launch the start of the event, and to invite guests upstairs to the event space, we created a ‘rocket launch’ sequence. This involved using the in house PA system to play a rocket sound, low lying fog to flow over the staircase and down to where guests were positioned as well as red and orange lighting courtesy of the Elation Fuze Z120 wash moving heads.
For the dinner element of the evening to complement the black table cloths and linen we provided 70 of our Ice Chiavari chairs. The chairs themselves are made from a clear plastic material and are provided with a comfortable black pad.
Our main involvement for the evening was to be in the VIP room at Lumbers where OMEGA displayed several watches and provided an overview of the history of the Speedmaster.
Our team created a ‘laser entry’ into the VIP room by using a fine haze machine and a RGB laser mounted vertically which created anticipation before guests even entered the room.
Inside the VIP room we installed a PA system consisting of two L-Acoustics 8XT speakers as well as a hand-held microphone which was used by the host for the event.
The celling of the venue was transformed into a starry sky with the help of 2x ultra short throw projectors, which projected a looped video of the nights sky.
The cabinets in the store that contained the watches were also transformed to fit the theme with the use of dry ice. Our team sourced dry ice pellets and installed them in each cage so that when guests walked into the room and the cabinets were opened the dry ice slowly dissipated which created a very nice effect.
