Event Overview
It’s an opportunity for us to flex our creative muscles, push ourselves to new levels and to come together as one unified team, all working towards the same goal.
KFC RGM Fest 2020 was held in Glasgow at the SEC, and included numerous drinks receptions, plenary sessions, interactive Q&A’s, all topped up with an award evening the guests will never forget!
From event design, to delegate comms, we, along with ITG, supported KFC with every element of this event over the course of 12 months, further strengthening our working partnerships.
Location, Location, Location
Our Event Management team work extensively with their clients to ensure they are selecting the right venue for their event, and RGM Fest is no different. Multiple site visits, detailed budget proposals and extensive contract negotiations were undertaken on behalf of our client to make sure they were able to pair their event to the perfect venue. This year, we landed in Glasgow at the fantastic SEC.
Working with the team at the SEC is always a pleasure, and they were incredibly supportive throughout the planning stages. We made regular site visits in the run up to the event and worked closely with their delivery team to ensure the clients needs were met throughout the event.
We took over the majority of the Campus for this event, enabling us to completely absorb the spaces into the KFC brand world. With the help of Visit Scotland, we extended the conference branding out into the city, reaching hotels, train stations and Glasgow airport!
We also worked with 17 local hotels to ensure that we have enough bedrooms for all attendees, and supported guests with their bedroom bookings, rooming lists and additional event space for satellite meetings and events.
Communication and Registration
Using our delegate management software, our Event Management team were able to send out invites, collect data and share regular updates with the client about how many guests had registered for the event.
Throughout the run up to the event various communications were shared with the guests including Joining Instructions, event agendas, and QR codes to print their badges on the day.
We also developed the event app through this software, which meant that the user experience was completely joined up. Guests used the app to check their event schedule, find out their table number, and receive notification throughout the day.
We also managed all sponsor communications and worked with KFC and their sponsors to help them connect and engage with the event guests.
Event Design
12 months of careful planning saw us transform the conference centre from SEC to KFC! Extensive branding of the interior and exterior of the venue immersed the guests in the KFC brand world, and this was reinforced throughout the day with bespoke themed sets in each event space.
From the giant bucket suspended from the ceiling, to “Cool Colonels” handing out swag to guests, everything about this event screamed KFC.
Entertainment
Each year our goal is to take this event to the next level – and we upped the ante with our entertainment offering this year!
Our Event Management team put the time in when it comes to researching and proposing acts for our client’s events; we sift through hundreds of acts to make sure that every performer suggested is within budget, able to deliver at a professional level, and most importantly – on theme!
Entertainment this year included the riotous Mr Wilson’s Second Liners, an 8 piece a Capella group, Dueling Pianos (with requests!), glitter artists, DJ Nigel from dawn till dusk – with his first set at 8am), Scotland’s finest Red Hot Chili Pipers, a US Colonel impersonator, a balloon drop and so much more!
Production
Increasing production value year on year for RGM fest is a challenge our team relish. To deliver a seamless, visually stunning (and thoroughly ‘KFC’) show in three spaces for 2020 took a highly skilled team of 96 technicians, riggers, crew, producers and carpenters.
9 articulated trucks delivered around 80 tonnes of equipment and scenery to site including 460 lighting fixtures; 108 speakers; 200 LED wall panels; 570m of truss; 13km of cable; 160,000 lumens of projection; 25 shipping container facades and 1 huge KFC bucket. This equated to a flown weight of around 23 tonnes and maximum power draw of 2,400 amps.
The design and planning process spanned around 6 months from initial concept to delivery. The spaces were modelled and designed in 3D, from which they were populated by scenery; staging; lighting; trusses; rigging points; power drops; pyro; camera risers and audio hangs. All audio systems were modelled using L-Acoustics Soundvision to ensure seamless coverage.
All time on site was scheduled down to the last detail to ensure entire show across three spaces could be installed in just 24 hours from empty shell to finished product.
The evening awards dinner was a jam-packed schedule from start to finish with 5 live acts; 34 awards; 3 presenters and 2 live audience interactions.
Feedback
“It was absolutely AMAZING!!! I have never been to an event anywhere near as huge and complex as this. It looked fantastic, the organisation on the day was superb, and the entertainment was awesome!! Really, really brilliant job.”
“Just wanted to send a quick note to congratulate you on a simply incredible event. I’d heard that RGMFest was pretty “epic” but I’m not sure I was prepared for that! From the app, to the firing of TShirts, the pinpoint focus of message during the day, to the marching band, and of course meeting the big man himself! Thank you for an incredible event. We were proud to play our part as a sponsor and hope the heads are okay this morning. Here’s to 2021.”
