We were recently approached by Inspired Thinking Group to assist them in organising and running an Innovation Day at their offices in Birmingham. Clients of ITG were invited to one of four sessions, over a two-day period, to come and experience the new technology on offer for marketing and retail. Many of the suppliers arrived from overseas to exhibit their equipment and guests came from all over the UK to attend.
The management of the day was our responsibility. To allow guests to see all suppliers, we carefully coordinated guided tours around the office space. We fully prepared and briefed each of the tour guides to ensure the delegate experience and journey ran as smoothly as possible. Guests arriving into Birmingham via train were met by a taxi or bus service to the venue, then once at reception were greeted by Star Wars Storm Troopers and ushered into the lifts and up to the event. Once inside a photo opportunity with R2-D2 and C-3PO allowed guests to get into the fun mood that ITG wanted to create at this event. While they wanted their clients to experience all of the important new technology available to them, they also wanted them to have a good time. Including aspects such as a drone flying room, 8ft tall robot ‘Titan,’ social media run arcade games and virtual reality parachute jumps allowed this to be the case.
For Premier, day one was installation day. We arrived at the offices early to begin the set up for this two day event. We provided crew members to transform the office and allow the suppliers to have enough space to set up their equipment. The Drone Room was created using a truss structure and netting to allow guests to try their hand at flying a drone or a mind-controlled helicopter. We created three areas within the room allowing for two flyers and spectators to all be in the room at the same times. Our LED Plinths were used to display some of the expensive drone models.
Suppliers arrived in the afternoon to set up their sections. We provided any necessary additional equipment at this stage to ensure everything was up and running for the event days to follow. This included anything from power cables to LED Screens. The office was transformed by the end of the day with all kinds of marketing from giant foam animals to double sided screens and a virtual shop window.
Day two, the first day of the event started with a briefing from us to the tour guides to let them know of any changes made from the night before. Our Photographer, Videographer and Receptionist arrived to set up ready for the clients to arrive at 9am. Guests began arriving at reception and at the cloakroom for which we provided our LED Circular Bar sections. They were then offered breakfast before they were greeted and set off in their groups
Once the two event days were over; we provided ample crew to transform the space back into an office ready for the next morning. We have provided the client with all of the photos and a highlight film from the event and are set to schedule a de-brief meeting with them. We have been thanked by the client for ‘executing such an exceptional event.’
