the Filming process

Securing the perfect actor to match the client’s vision was step one. Following this, we arranged a half-day booking at our in-house green screen film studio, opting for a package that included essential camera equipment and RF microphones. However, recognising the specific demands of green screen filming, we upgraded to Ursas cameras for their superior performance in chroma-keying environments.

Preparation for the client’s arrival was meticulous, ensuring cameras were calibrated to the ideal lossless settings, radio microphones functioned flawlessly, and the studio lighting was finely adjusted. Our goal was to illuminate the actor in the most flattering way and eliminate shadows on the green screen’s backdrop, ensuring a seamless blend in post-production.

Post Production

The post-production phase began with importing the footage into After Effects, where the green backdrop was meticulously removed using the software’s advanced keying effects. This crucial step set the stage for the subsequent layering process. To integrate the actor into the virtual setting more naturally, we conducted a subtle colour grading of the footage, mitigating any residual green spill and enhancing the overall aesthetic harmony.

Following the colour correction, the virtual environment was seamlessly incorporated as a layer within After Effects. This foundational layer served as the backdrop against which we would build the scene’s complexity.

Virtual screens within the set were then meticulously filled with content and adjusted with perspective warping to ensure they appeared naturally integrated within the virtual space.

The finishing touch was the addition of scrolling text at the bottom of the screen. This element added depth to the scene, enriching the viewer’s immersion in this envisioned future. Through careful planning, precise execution, and creative post-production, we transformed a concept into a compelling visual narrative, all within the versatile confines of a green screen film studio.
