Premier supported Golden Charter with the 2015 Funeral Planner of the Year awards

Having had unfavourable experiences with previous in-house AV suppliers, Golden Charter wanted to ensure the supplier for their 2015 ‘Funeral Planner of The Year’ awards night would be aligned with them, both technically and creatively.

After initially discussing the brief, we set about designing a TV themed conference set, based around 3 installed house projectors. It included full colour vinyl print panels, in addition to themed wallpaper, furniture, TVs and a large quantity of floor, table and ceiling lamps.

Our client loved our ideas, and commissioned the design. We set about the necessary construction and print for the conference set, and sourcing the array of furniture and lighting required.

For audio reinforcement, we provided a distributed L-Acoustics PA system comprising of 4 x flown 8XT for centre coverage and front fill, 4 x 8XT ground supported, and 2 x SB18 for sub bass. All powered by LA8 amplification, and fed by a Yamaha LS9-32 digital desk. Two Audio Technica gooseneck microphones were provided for each lectern, in addition to 6 channels of Sennheiser ew300 G3 wireless for handheld, lavalier or headset usage. Coverage and frequency response from this setup were first class.

On the lighting front, we supplied around 35 floor, table and ceiling lamps (with custom rigging); 8 Source Four Zoom profiles for stage wash, 8 of our highly versatile Elation Platinum Spot 5R Pro moving yokes, and 10 1m LED battens for uplighting the set. All generic and lamps were dimmed by a pair of Betapack IIIs, with the entire rig being controlled by the brand new Avolites Quartz console. Signal was taken care of by a Wireless Systems W-DMX Blackbox transmitter, and transceived by the Elation moving yokes.

The main stage was 10x2m at 2ft high, with 2 protruding 2x1m sections for lecterns. Three step units were provided for quick access from left, centre or right of stage. A separate stage to the left at 2x2m was provided at 1ft high to allow photographs of the award winners to be taken off the main stage. All staging was finished in black casement and carpet. Presenters were provided with two of our stunning acrylic lecterns, finished with customised full colour vinyl logos.

We used our newly updated Pulse2 PPU as the main video control for this event, taking feeds from redundant PowerPoint laptops, and Playback Pro. With over 50 awards to present, there were plenty of cues, but our team and the choice of equipment handled these with ease. We fed into the in-house projection, and provided a 42” HD comfort monitor for presenter usage.

We were especially pleased to have gone from visualisation to finished product in 2 weeks on this event, producing exactly what we said we would without compromise.
