Brief
To provide an AV solution for the Fashanne Awards which were to be held at St Mary’s Church in Nottingham.
Having provided the AV for the 2016 event at Belvoir Castle, the brief was to build on the foundations of that successful event, but to add additional elements to enhance the guest experience.
Process
Having met Anne Davies, Fashanne’s founder on site, we were able to create a CAD plan showing the position of the AV equipment that we intended to provide for the show.
We wanted to include a video element to this years awards, allowing guests to clearly see which university had created the outfits being modelled on the stage at the time. This also opened up the opportunity for the client to commission videos with soundtracks, which each university could use for their catwalk presentation.
Equipment Used
The focal point for the event was to be the catwalk, at 13m in length it allowed guests at the event to witness the designs up close and personal. The stage itself was covered in a black carpet and the sides in a black casement to provide a finished look to it. Models arrived to the stage via a draped off section of the church ensuring that the first time the outfits were viewed was when they were modelled on the catwalk.
For the new video element of the awards we built a 26ft wide set structure and mounted a 10ft wide projection screen within it. A full HD Panasonic projector was positioned behind the screen. Content was played using an Apple Macbook Pro with Playback Pro software.
Lighting is always an important aspect to get right at a fashion show, we provided 16x generic lighting fixtures to provide good lighting to all of the stage area. The lighting itself was mounted on a mixture of truss podiums and winch stands.
Additional decorative lighting was provided, this included 28 Elation Sixbars to uplight the pillars within the venue which looked very effective.
Audio was covered with an L-Acoustics KARA system and SB18 subwoofers to provide a consistent sound throughout the venue. A single hand held microphone was provided for the host and judges to use for the awards.
To create the VIP area we installed 15x aluminium poseur tables with black lycra covers and 60x bar stools. This area was sectioned off by using a number of chrome posts with velvet ropes.
Feedback
A MASSIVE thank you to you and your fab team – everything went very smoothly!!
I thought the screen looked amazing and we definitely ‘upped’ the game from last year in terms of the fashion show side of things.
We have received some lovely feedback from guests etc.
Many thanks again – keep next year’s date pencilled
