Back in September 2015 Premier Weddings ventured to Darwin Lakes in Matlock. Darwin Lakes is 4-star luxury self-catering, accommodation in the heart of the countryside. The wonderful couple Holly and Tom decided to celebrate their marriage at Darwin Lakes last year. Premier Weddings were lucky enough to be involved with helping decorate the Cottage in which the reception took place.

We initially met with Holly at Darwin Lakes so that she could walk us through what she had in mind. They began with their blessing which took place just outside the main reception area, in front of the picturesque lake. Holly hired our Ivory Wedding Arch, removed the drape and customised it with her own ribbons and fabric, to make the perfect DIY centre piece for their pretty ceremony.

The main reception cottage is split into upstairs and downstairs. The upstairs is where the wedding breakfast took place, they had a top table and set out enough round tables for 100 day guests. The main theme of the wedding was ‘Carnival/Festival’, meaning that Holly and Tom wanted bright and vibrant colours throughout. We were able to create the carnival feel with our partial ceiling draping where we used rainbow coloured ribbons combined with fairy lights in a mix match fashion.

Holly then asked us to outline the footpath outside the cottage with Festoon Lighting, which looked stunning, while providing some much needed light for people to move around safely in the evening.

We offer 2 types of festoon; Our white cabled lights, which we recommend using indoors, as they have a more delicate cable and typically blend in with most wedding colour schemes; While our more robust black cabled festoon is perfect for outdoor use. This is what we used for Holly & Tom’s wedding where we installed 100 metres of festoon lights, 50m either side of the pathway to outline the route to the evening reception, creating a pretty and soft outdoor lighting effect.

With the festoon and the vibrant ceiling draping, we helped the couple to achieve the desired carnival theming they were looking for.
