Corporate Festival

One of our most highly anticipated events of 2015 involved an unusual finale to a fairly standard conference.

Our client tasked us with the production of an outdoor corporate festival stage with full PA and lighting suitable for a variety of bands and performers.

The design of the stage centred on a 9m tall inflatable stage cover, with a truss box designed to fit snugly inside. The box was designed to allow all lighting fixtures and cabling to sit inboard, meaning that if the British summer weather turned against us we were able to deflate the roof onto the truss, allowing the event to safely continue.

We wanted to create a high impact lighting design, using our brand new Elation Sixbars as a pixel-mapped backdrop. We also used our Platinum Spot 5R moving heads and our stage floods to wash the roof and performers with colour. To finish off we added the traditional two-lamp molefays to the front edge of the stage, and hung Festoon around the perimeter of the site that doubled up as lighting for the traders and bars. All of the lighting was programmed, mapped, and controlled on our Avolites Quartz by a dedicated Lighting Engineer.

To guarantee the audience the highest quality sound possible we decided to use an L-Acoustics KARA system, complemented with SB18s for low-end reinforcement. Long before arriving onsite we were able to design and tweak this system using Soundvision software, meaning that the install was quick and straightforward. For monitors we opted for the versatile 12XT, controlled alongside the main FOH mix on our Yamaha LS9-32 desk. We also supplied all of the various microphones and stands needed for the array of performers.

The install of the entire event was smooth and hassle-free, with the four crew having built the structure, lighting, and sound in just four and a half hours. They even had time to stop for a tea break halfway through, and pose for an obligatory team photo. The show itself was blighted by rain, meaning only the hardiest of delegates stayed for the duration. Despite this we received some amazing feedback from our clients and their guests, ranging from the overall sound, down to the pixel mapped lighting effects.

Shortly after the event we received the following feedback from our client:

“I just wanted to pass on our thoughts from the event, you have an incredible team working with you! Jon and Andy were fantastic, and I am very thankful for their help and advice before, and during the event. The team were fantastic, professional, efficient and much more!

I always love working with you guys, and no doubt will be in touch again soon.”
