Blackmagic Web Presenter

The Blackmagic Web Presenter is a useful box, part of the Teranex Mini range. It can actually act as a mini video switcher, but it’s main purpose is to encode video and audio for use with a web streaming platform such as Skype or YouTube.

It features a HDMI input and loop, SDI input and loop, stereo RCA inputs and single mono XLR input, alongside a program SDI output and USB B for connection to PC/Mac.

The smart panel allows control over input source for video, in addition to source and level controls for audio. It also has a small colour screen which shows a copy of the video, audio level and details such as which input source is selected.

It will accept formats up to 2160p60 (over both the 12G SDI and HDMI 2.0 inputs) but will be encoded to low bitrate 720p for low bandwidth requirements. Loop outs are unaffected by processing and are a clean feed. This facilitates more reliable streaming over poor connections.
